Commercial Generator

Commercial generators, similar to residential generators, are used as a back-up form of energy when the main power source fails for some reason. Power outages or blackouts can be caused by extreme weather such as lighting, snowstorms, and heavy wind, which are all common to New England. The main difference between commercial and residential generators is the size and power output produced by each. Commercial generators are usually larger in size and built with powerful components so they are able to provide energy to entire facilities at one time.

Components of Commercial Generators

Commercial generators are composed of three main parts, the engine, the radiator, and the alternator.

  1. The engine of the generator is either diesel, natural gas, or propane powered. The larger the engine, the larger the power output. That is why commercial generator engines are usually made larger with stronger material.
  2. Radiators are attached to the engine and are used to keep the generator running at a cool temperature to prevent overheating.
  3. The alternator, or generator end, is the component that actually produces the energy. The alternator is made up of two parts, the stator and the rotor.

Commercial generators are a reliable source of backup power for buildings such as businesses, schools, and other large facilities. RCA provides quality commercial generator installation services for all of Southeast Massachusetts. Give us a call at (508) 428-0449 or request a free quote today!
